USMS Level 3 Coach
With over 50 years of coaching experience, Doug is a revered figure in the swimming community. After spending more than 17 years as head coach, where he played a pivotal role in building the club and enhancing its facilities, Doug is now dedicated to enjoying swimming while remaining a valuable resource and exemplary leader for the club. His philosophy emphasizes that swimming is an exceptional exercise for older adults and should be a joyful activity. Doug is committed to individual improvement, often stating, “If someone stays with swimming long enough, they will become an All-American.”
USMS Level 2 Coach
Jay serves as our DECK Coach and also contributes to the "Let's Swim" clinics. What began as a one-year competitive swim season at SUNY Stony Brook evolved into a 30+ year "unintended" coaching career. As a new teacher at Hewlett High School on Long Island, NY, Jay founded and coached a Boys' Jr. High swim team and later took the helm of the Varsity Girls' Swim Teams. After 33 years as an educator and swim coach, he retired to Santa Fe, NM, before moving to SaddleBrooke. Here, he quickly volunteered to assist Coach Springer, earned his Level 2 USMS coaching certification, and became a certified USMS stroke/turn official and starter.
USMS Level 3 Coach & USMS Adult Learn to Swim Instructor
Coach Lyn began her impressive coaching journey in 1965 as a stroke coach for the Allentown, PA, YMCA swim team. Over the past 50+ years, she has coached AAU swim teams, summer leagues, and high school and college teams in California. Now, she guides SaddleBrooke swimmers of all levels and facilitates the "Let's Swim" clinics. Lyn holds a BA in Sports Exercise and Kinesiology, as well as a Master's in Leadership. As a certified Adult Learn to Swim Instructor through USMS, she is passionate about the health benefits of swimming for all abilities. Lyn played a key role in launching the "Let's Swim" clinics, which encourage swimming for both exercise and enjoyment.
USMS Level 1 Coach
Mark currently serves as the President of the SaddleBrooke Swim Club and has a rich history in competitive swimming, which began in his youth and continued through college. During his college years, he was the Head Swim Coach at the local YMCA and supported his college coach in running youth swim clinics. After graduating, Mark spent eight years coaching age group and Masters swimmers on a USA team. After a brief hiatus from the sport, he rejoined the SaddleBrooke Swim Club in 2018, where he now contributes to various coached practices and competitive swim meets, as well as assisting with the “Let’s Swim” clinics.
USMS LEVEL 2 COACH
Larry started swimming competitively in high school where he also played water polo. He continued competitive swimming in college while coaching a high school girls team. Several years after college, Larry helped start and coach a USMS team in his small, remote town in California. A busy life kept Larry away from the pool for several years, but he happily began swimming and coaching again shortly after moving to Saddlebrooke in 2021. He is currently a level 3 USMS certified coach and a Level 3 ASCA certified coach.
USMS LEVEL 2 COACH
Steve swam competitively in AAU and on his high school team in San Diego and now enjoys swimming and competing with the Saddlebrooke swim team. His coaching career began during his high school years. He returned to coaching in 2017 after moving to Saddlebrooke. Steve enjoys coaching and encouraging our swimmers!
Noelle Minck started competitive swimming at age 11 in Bangkok, Thailand, and participated in several international meets from 1970 to 1972. She trained with a national-level group in Rockville, Maryland, from 1972 to 1975, and joined the University of Central Florida's club swim team from 1979 to 1980.
Her coaching career spanned high school swimming and diving teams in Florida, New Mexico, Illinois, and Arizona from 1982 to 2006 and again from 2018 to 2022. Noelle enhanced her coaching skills by attending a clinic at the Olympic Training Center in 1999 and the NCAA
Swim Coaches Clinic in 2000.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and History and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. With 40 years of teaching experience, Noelle has made a significant impact on
students both in the classroom and the pool.
